Roo's Wish

ABOUT US

Meet Roo

Roo became part of our family in 2016. She is the little girl that not only inspired us to do more, but is continually our motivation to never give up! While she may say very few words, her amazing heart and beautiful smile will melt your heart and inspire you to do all you can to help other children in her former situation. We love the opportunity to be part of her life and watch her surpass all of the doctors expectations!

Luggage & Blankets

It was common practice in Kentucky that as a child entered foster care they were handed a trash bag to collect their belongings. We hated that kids were already going through so much and then they were made to feel that their items didn't deserve anything better than a garbage bag! It also made us sad that many kids changed from home to home, and never had their own personal blanket to take with them. To date we have collected over 6,000 duffel bags, blankets and pieces of luggage for case workers to hand children in lieu and to ensure that each child would have their own blanket!  If you would like to help keep trash bags out of the hands of children, you can drop off new or gently used duffel bags or luggage at Louisville Laser or donate via our Amazon link!

Room Remodels

We are so thankful that our community joins in our mission of finding any way possible to impact the life of a foster child. A foster visitation room is used by children in care when they spend an hour or two per week during a supervised visit with their bio parent.  Many of the visitation rooms have broken toys, no colorful decor, games with missing pieces and ripped furniture. We wanted to help put color and love back into as many rooms as possible! We also wanted to make sure that the rooms were stocked with as many interactive games as possible to allow the child to build good memories with the bio parent. Thanks to the generous donations of our community through Paypal and our Amazon link, we have completely transformed 11 rooms to date, with more on the schedule!

Shoes

Imagine coming into care during the middle of winter without shoes that fit or any shoes at all. This is a sad reality for many foster children.  We wanted to help ensure that as many kids as possible had warm shoes, that fit! To date, thanks to our amazing community we have donated over 300 pair!

School Kits

Sadly, most kids that come into care during the school year, come without any school supplies. Thanks to Kroger, we were able to distribute over 300 school kits to local foster agencies! Now each child can get a box of supplies to help them be successful in class!

Jackets & Hoodies

We continually keep in contact with local foster agencies to find out their needs for children. When we heard that kids were coming into care without jackets, we jumped all over it! Thanks to some business donations, we were able to ship 100 within days of hearing about the need!
